EEFIT/LfE (UK) Training sessions

Thirty-nine people registered for the Earthquake Engineering Training Field Investigation Team (EEFIT) training sessions that consisted of three online sessions taking place on the 16th, 23rd and 30th of November with the topics Mission launch, in the field and data management and output, respectively.

An average of 22 participants attended the three training sessions organised by EEFIT and was part of the Learning from Earthquakes (LfE) UK team project. Dr Diana Contreras led the organisation of these sessions, and Dr Josh Macabuag wrote the scenarios for each session. The training session counted with Professor Alison Rabi, Dr Sean Wilkinson, Dr Valentina Putrinoand Dr Viviana Novelli as trainers in the break-out rooms. This session counted with the support of Dr Yasemin Aktas on the topic of data management and Mr Sadra Amani in the break-out room addressing the topic of geotechnical effects of earthquakes.

The main subtopics addressed on the break-out rooms were damages due to tsunami, the impact of earthquakes on infrastructure and buildings and geotechnical effects of earthquakes, as well as data collection methods and sources: interviews, LfE app and social media (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook) and crowdsourcing platforms: LastQuake app developed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). These training sessions were linked to the Evening Lectures held on October 4th and 11th, 2021.
