Waleed Elshanshoury

Waleed Elshanshoury is a data-driven Architectural and Urban Designer with over nine years of experience in Computational Design, Environmental Simulations, BIM, and Performance Optimization. His expertise lies at the intersection of Architectural Design and Design Technology, where he develops advanced methodologies that integrate software development with sustainable, user-centered approaches. Waleed has contributed to iconic projects across the Middle East, Africa, and outer space habitation, delivering performance-driven architectural solutions.

As a KTP associate with Newcastle University, Waleed applies his technical knowledge to the industrialized construction sector by developing a Knowledge-Based Engineering model. This model integrates with BIM and Generative Design to streamline Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA), focusing on creating an ML-integrated knowledge graph for automating design and optimizing time and cost.

A recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship in 2019, Waleed earned his Master of Science in Computational Design from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. He is currently completing a fully funded PhD at the University of West England, Bristol, where his research focuses on using Machine Learning for real-time urban energy prediction and generative urban design.

Waleed also has an entrepreneurial background, having received a scholarship in entrepreneurship from DAAD COSIMENA. He has worked with two technology startups, contributing to their success. His technical skills include Grasshopper, Rhino, Dynamo, Revit, and Python, with extensive experience in computational modeling, complex geometries, environmental simulations, and BIM integration.
