Welcome to the Health Economics Group
The Health Economics Group (HEG) undertakes a wide range of research aimed at informing and guiding decision-making and health policy. With a focus on methodological capacity building, our team are experienced in supporting and promoting the use of various methodologies including economic evaluation, complex modelling, and valuation of health outcomes in a variety of settings including the NHS, public health, social care, and a global health context.
Our research portfolio is varied addressing questions such as: the economic determinants of poor health; the valuation of both costs and benefits associated with technologies to prevent and treat ill-health; and the identification and evaluation of policies to promote Health and Wellbeing.
We are based in the Population Health Sciences Institute where the vision is to improve health
and care and reduce health inequalities through our collective research.
Our work is based around three themes:
- Economic analysis alongside intervention studies
- Health Technology Assessment and decision modelling
- Preference elicitation and valuation of outcomes
We seek to help improve the knowledge of health economics amongst future collaborators and those that use health economic information as part of their work. We welcome collaboration from all researchers and technology developers at any stage of their career or work. For info healtheconomicsgroup@ncl.ac.uk
