The following visitors from Institute of Engineering Thermophysics (IET) Chinese Academy of Sciences will be coming to Newcastle University on Friday 15th June 2012.
Prof. Haisheng Chen: Energy Storage, Trigeneration, Gas Turbine
Dr Hao Song will be joining the Global Secure Project in May 2012 working on Theme 9 at MAST.
Huashan Bao & Constantinos Charalambous visited the workshop in Jingjiang on Theme 3 and viewed the unfinished experimental rig.
A job advert to recruit an RA on Theme 5 (MAST) was published in July 2012.
Anh Phan from CEAM will be working on the Global Secure Project from 18th September 2012 until 31st January 2013.
Dr Deng at Dalian Maritime University will be joining the Global Secure project working on Theme 4
Thomas Bohl will be joining the Global Secure project shortly to work with Guohong Tian on Theme 1 in collaboration with BIT.
Dr Lin Chen from Guangxi University will be involved on Trigeneration with energy storage system on Theme 1.
An offer has been to Dr Zia Shaikh on Theme 7 to begin working on a part-time basis commencing July 2012.
Dr Yaodong Wang has visited TIPC of CAS (Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China) on 27th August 2012 to discuss future collaboration on Theme 1 & 3.
Professor Simin Davoudi will present a first paper related to the project at a seminar in Manchester 13-14th September 2012.
Dr Mohammad Shamsul Arafin will be the RA joining Theme 5 (MAST) 'Advanced aero and hydrodynamics for sail-assisted ship propulsion'.
Dr Mohammed Alamiry has recently been recruited in September to work on Theme 2 (CEAM) 'CO2 Capture and H2 production'.
Dr/Professor Shuiping Li from Wuhan University will be provisionally joining the project to work on controlling the free piston or trigeneration system on Theme 1.
Two extra themes from the original bid have been added to the Global Secure project due to additional funding from EPSRC. The first project is 'Energy Reduction through Promoting Sustainable Living' by Computing Science and the second project is 'Optimal managment of water resources and flood risk for hydropower generation'.
A workshop will be held at Newcastle University on Theme 12 'Optimal Managment of Water resources & Flood Risk for Hydropower generation' on 6th November 2012.
Dr Zhiliang Lin and Prof Zou will be joining Theme 9 as visiting researchers based in MAST. Dr Hao Song will be replaced on Theme 9 'Advanced Hydrodynamics, Simulation and operation for improved marine Transport Efficiency'.
Dr Liz Brooks who is a Research Associate in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape will be working on Theme 10 'Sustainable Retrofitting'.
