South East Asia Dementia Research Network

Around two thirds of people with dementia live in the world's poorest countries, defined as low and middle income countries (LMICs).  Such countries may have the least capacity, in terms of health and care support, services and the workforce, to cope with the rising dementia demand from our ageing populations.  South East Asia and the wider Western Pacific Region are expected to experience some of the highest increases in numbers of people living with dementia.

This research network developed from the NIHR Global Health Group on Dementia Prevention and Care (DePEC) with the aim of expanding and including researchers from the wider SE Asia region.

Its aim is to collaborate across countries and share findings with a view to influencing policy and practice.
