The Extraordinary Gertrude Bell: A story of adventure, discovery and political intrigue.
The exhibition originally held at the Great North Museum: Hancock, has been moved to the Kirkleatham Museum, near Redcar. The exhibition tells the story of the North East born explorer Gertrude Bell. An archaeologist, diplomat, linguist, writer and mountaineer who was a key figure in the discussions that led to the creation of Iraq following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire.
