Upcoming Events
Spawn Point: Newcastle Games Studies Network Launch (date TBC)
Join us for the launch of the Newcastle Game Studies Network—a 90-minute roundtable for researchers, teachers, and postgraduate students interested in the critical study of video games.
Depending on the number of attendees, we will invite you to come prepared to speak for 2–3 minutes about a video game that interests you, ideally one you have considered in relation to teaching or research. Alternatively, you are very welcome to attend, listen, and join the discussion.
We will circulate a sign-up form closer to the date to get a sense of numbers.
This event marks the beginning of a series of events and discussion groups in 2025-26 exploring the role of video games in research and teaching across the humanities and social sciences at Newcastle University.
Critical Play – Starting October 2025
A monthly ‘playing group’ for members of the Newcastle Game Studies Network to explore and discuss video games together. Games will be chosen collaboratively in advance, with sessions focused on collective play and discussion.
