Catrin Huber

  • Venue: Fine Art Lecture Theatre
  • Start: Tue, 11 Dec 2018 16:15:00 GMT
  • End: Tue, 11 Dec 2018 19:00:00 GMT

Catrin Huber is an artist who works with paintings, wall paintings, drawing, collage and installations. She will be talking about Expanded Interiors, a project she is currently working on, and for which she developed two site-responsive exhibitions for two Roman houses in Pompeii and Herculaneum (they are open to the public until mid-January 2019). She is interested in the complexities of Roman wall paintings and their – perhaps surprising – relevance for Contemporary fine-art practice.

She is exhibiting her work nationally (e.g. Pitzhangor Manor, London; Hatton Gallery, Newcastle; Barbican Centre, London), and internationally (e.g. Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart; AW24>Kunstraum, Düsseldorf; British School at Rome), and studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe, and the Royal College of Art in London. Catrin is based in Newcastle and teaches here in Fine Art at Newcastle University.
