Professor Richard G Watt PhD MSc BDS FFPH. Richard is Professor of Dental Public Health at University College London and Honorary Consultant in Dental Public Health for Islington Primary Care Trust, London. Professor Watt graduated in dentistry from the University of Edinburgh in 1984 and proceeded to study for an MSc and PhD in Dental Public Health at the University of London. His research has focused on the social determinants of oral health inequalities and the development and evaluation of oral health promotion interventions. He was co-founder and Past President of the Oral Health Promotion Research Group and is the Immediate Past President of the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry. Previously he was Dental Public Health adviser to the Health Education Authority and the Health Development Agency. He currently sits on a variety of expert working groups for the Department of Health; National Institute for Clinical Excellence, World Health Organisation and European Union. Richard has randomised controlled trial experience and expertise in health promotion.
