  • Two photon inscription of sub-wavelength optical waveguides

The research will involve using an ultra-fast laser to create nano-sized features on a substrate. By providing just the right photon flux two photon absorption will induce polymerization at the nano-scale. Initially, the technology will be used to create new photonic and opto-fluidic devices with nanoscale features, but the tool will have many possibilities for other applications. For example, for producing scaffolds for tissue engineering and stem cell research.
