• Fallen university comrades: the men from the Northumberland Fusiliers on the Armstrong War Memorial

This project focuses on the Armstrong Building War Memorial and will contribute to ongoing research disseminated through an online Digital Memory Book. http://memorial.ncl.ac.uk/ . So far, the research undertaken by students and staff has focused on individual soldiers. My project will investigate collectively the 64 soldiers from the Northumberland Fusiliers infantry regiment. The aim of my project is to investigate the relationships between these men, as soldiers serving in the same battalions, and as friends. I will use University records, obituaries and other archival resources, including those in the Northumberland Fusiliers Museum archive, in researching these military and personal relationships.
