Thrombolysis is an effective treatment for selected patients with acute ischaemic stroke. Treatment rates vary and reasons for these differences include patient delay in seeking treatment, variations in clinical practice and service organisation.
I will undertake a retrospective notes review of 100 UK patients admitted to a hospital to determine the clinical characteristics and outcomes of stroke patients who did and did not receive thrombolysis.
I will undertake a survey of stroke clinicians in the northeast of England and Malaysia to compare their views about enablers and barriers to delivering thrombolysis.
