- A stereological examination of Temporal Lobe Volume in Dementia with Lewy Bodies
Visual hallucinations are a common occurrence in dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB). The temporal lobe comprises of regions thought to identify objects and faces, which play a crucial role in judging the significance of these objects. Damage to this area may therefore result in inability to process such information, which may be a potential cause of visual hallucinations in DLB. We propose to extend our initial studies of the visual system by studying potential changes in volume of post-mortem tissue using stereology, comparing tissue taken from DLB patients and matched controls.
