Mitochondrial diseases are common genetic diseases. Whilst there has been remarkable recent progress in improving diagnosis and prevention of these diseases, for those unfortunate patients with mitochondrial disease there is no cure. This project is to determine if promising groups of drugs have beneficial effects on cells from patients with mitochondrial disease. These cells are stem cells derived from the patient’s own cells and these stem cell can be easily converted into neurons, a major site clinical disease.
