- The effect of winch line stiffness on the motion response of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) during launch and recovery
In the maritime industry, the use of ROVs is extremely common and important to achieve many tasks underwater. These ROVs are often launched and recovered sometimes in rough seas. However, there is still a lack of research in the stress and forces the ROV structure experiences during operation. ROVs are launched and recovered using a winch line. This research aims to understand the effect of the stiffness of the line on the ROV when it experiences maximum movement while passing through the waves. This research can help in extending the safety and operability of the ROV system.
