- The role of the thalamic lateral pulvinar nucleus in visual hallucinations in the Lewy body dementias
One of the most common clinical features of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is visual hallucinations (VH). Despite the frequency of VH, very little is known on why they occur, and thus how they can be treated. We therefore propose to examine the post-mortem brains of DLB patients with VH to assess if there any pathological changes in the cells present within an area of the brain associated with visual function. We believe that this approach may not only offer a considerable insight into how and why VH occur in DLB and as a whole.
