The research activities planned for this project fall within the field of materials chemistry and focus on the preparation and characterisation of luminescent hybrid compounds based on porous organo-silica.

Such materials represent an appealing research area because of the relative simplicity in their synthesis and functionalisation in comparison with other systems. They also show interesting optical properties that, combining with the ability to bind and enclose molecules, render the study a wide and motivating experience for an undergraduate student who approaches the research area of supramolecular photochemistry willing to deepen scientific skills and to consider further academic studies
