The aim of the project was to automate the process of calibrating the energy axis of spectra made in XPS lab and returning scaled spectra with minimal manual input, freeing up time to continue research in other areas. This was done by writing code blocks in Octave format and linking them together using the ‘Workflow’ tool of a newly developed networking program called ‘E-Science’. This program allows workflows to be shared across the E-Science system allowing anyone to use it. The Project was a success and raw data can now be calibrated straight from the lab almost instantly, returning a scaled spectrum.
