- Beyond the gender binary: Exploring the spatial nature of the production, understanding, making and unmaking of gender identities within educational sites.
The aim of this project is to explore the spatial nature of how bodies and the gender they present can shift, change and be interpreted in diverse ways. This work builds on the geography of sexuality and ideas of multiple identities over space. The emphasis of the project will be within institutions of education (such as school and university), these spaces are often represented as spaces of freedom and self-expression; however this project will aim to explore the disconnect between the representation and reality of these spaces that are often in highly heterosexualised spaces.
