The statistical behaviour of vorticity (=twice the angular velocity) transport in turbulentpremixed flames with a range of different values of heat release parameter, global Lewis number and turbulent Reynolds number, spanning different regimes of combustion, will be analysed based on Direct Numerical Simulation data. The fundamental physical understanding obtained regarding vorticity transport will be utilised to model the dissipation rate of turbulent kinetic energy. This, in turn, helps to devise high-fidelity computational methodologies, which play an indispensable role in the design on energy-efficient and environment-friendly combustion devices (e.g. Spark Ignition (SI) engines, gas turbines etc.).
