- Synthesis of intermediates in the pathway for anaerobic naphthalene oxidation
Understanding the mechanism of microbial degradation of industrial aromatic compounds in the environment is of critical importance for undertaking remedial measures to protect the general public and to inform policymakers. This project seeks to contribute to the elucidation of the complex pathway partially uncovered for the anaerobic degradation of naphthalene. This goal will be enabled by the synthesis of reference compounds to assist microbiological studies to be performed by collaborators in Munich.
