- The University at War 1914-1918: Remembering the Armstrong Building Memorial
In 2014, Britain will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War. Many staff and students from Armstrong College (as the University was then known) fought and died in the war, and their names (223 in total) are commemorated on the memorial in the entrance foyer to the Armstrong Building. This project will research the lives and deaths of these men, and disseminate the findings of this work both widely and creatively. In this way, the project will bring the Armstrong building war memorial more fully into the life of the University community.
