- Neurodevelopment effect of endocrine disrupting Bisphenol A compounds
We will be investigating the toxicity of commonly used chemicals Bisphenol A and Bisphenol AF. These chemicals present a concern to the developing human brain due to their suspected presence in food for consumption. We will add these chemicals to two sets of human brain stem cells for two weeks in two experiments. Essentially, the first with the stem cells before differentiation and the second with the stem cells as they differentiate into mature brain cells. We will measure changes in protein expression by Western Blotting and in the size, number and shape of the cells by confocal microscopy.
