This research project aims to explore the visual representation of digital terrain survey data by means of three dimensional modelling within dedicated software packages. This includes examining the range of functionality within the software that is available, in order to fully maximise the potential for extracting full value from the data. The objective is to take existing terrain data and to investigate the various means of modelling the data in a way that best serves the end-users of these models, which typically include environmental and engineering application areas, whereby such information plays a critical role in the decision making process.
