• Cis-regulatory elements of nonsense-medicated decay in the human genome

My project is on “cis-regulatory elements of nonsense-mediated decay in the human genome”.  Nonsense-mediated decay is an mRNA surveillance pathway designed to destroy any mRNA with a nonsense mutation so that the production of non-functional protein is avoided. My project aims to analyse large numbers of nonsense-mediated decay targets using biomedical knowledge in combine with computational skills. List of targets are analysed with ribosome profiling and graphical information are produced using programme I wrote with Python. These graphs show a distinctive pattern of mRNA targets in relation to their ribosome profiling and may prove to be useful in future researches.
