The aim of orthodontic treatment is to move misaligned teeth so that they better match the ideal dental arch and improve the quality of life of the recipient. While the procedures are well established there are still problems associated with bonding the brackets onto the teeth, which may result in the patient needing to return to the dentist to have the brackets re-attached. In this project we propose to analyse the properties of the chemicals used to bond brackets to teeth, with the aim of understanding what produces the best adhesive bond between the bracket and the tooth.
