- Examining the Efficacy of Novel Androgen Receptor Modulators in Models of Castrate-Resistant Prostate Cancer
The androgen receptor (AR), a protein that is present in prostate cells, drives the formation of prostate cancer. It also plays an important role in prostate cancer that escapes current treatments. Therefore, new treatments that can inactivate the AR in this disease could represent an improved way of treating patients. However, the AR changes during cancer treatment so that it becomes more difficult to treat. These changes are the result of mutations in the AR. Using a series of new anti-cancer agents, we will address the effectiveness of these drugs in preventing mutant AR from functioning in prostate cancer cells.
