In August 2011 an expedition of 9 members set out to survey Tunsbergdalsbreen, the largest outlet valley glacier of the Jostedalsbreen Icecap, on the Western Coast of Norway. The expedition was run in conjunction with Brathay Exploration Group who had run this same expedition in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, before recommencing it again in 2009.
Our aim was to survey the lower part of the 18km long glacier, to monitor ice velocity, mass balance, and to record the snout position, along with mapping the frontal landscape of the glacier using GPS.
