Time Layers: for the construction of authenticity and identity

In June 2020, Achim Saupe held a lecture "Time Layers: for the construction of authenticity and identity“ at the graduate school Identität & Erbe at the Technische Universität Berlin. The lecture, which also promoted the HERA project, analysed the multiple visualization of time layers in the culture of remembrance since the 1990s, namely in the area of memorial sites, in urban space and in monument preservation. Saupe shows that the time layer theorem can be understood as part of a new historicity regime since the 2000s, that combines different difficult pasts and thus creates authenticity and belonging in new ways.
