Work Packages
The project consists of three work packages in Newcastle upon Tyne, Nottingham and Birmingham, and London. The research is being conducted by a multi-disciplinary team in collaboration with the University of Newcastle, University of Nottingham, and King’s College London.
Work Package 1 - Ethnographic Research in Newcastle
In Newcastle, a researcher will spend time with up to 20 people from South Asian communities who have memory concerns (also know as dementia) for a period of 12 months conducting ethnographic research. Ethnographic tries to understand people's experiences by spending time with them in their everyday lives and having informal conversations.
Work Package 2 - Interviews and Focus Groups in Nottingham and Birmingham
In Nottingham and Birmingham, up to 30 people from South Asian communities who have memory concerns (also known as dementia) will take part in interviews and/or focus groups. We will use the findings from Work Package 1 to inform the approach in the interviews and/or focus groups.
Work Package 3 - Task Groups with Practitioners
After we have conducted the research, we will take our findings to 4-6 task groups, which are informal group discussions about a policy topic. The task groups will be convened with health and social care practitioners to comment on our findings and develop practical community and policy goals.
