The oil tanker 'World Unicorn', built by the shipbuilders Swan Hunter and Wigham Richardson Ltd, at the Wallsend shipyard, Tyneside. John Wigham Richardson established what would become Swan Hunter and Wigham Richardson Ltd in 1860, with the purchase of a small shipyard at Walker. During 130 years in ship building, the company constructed more than 1600 vessels. Swan Hunter now operates in the industry as a design and engineering company.
