A family portrait, taken c.1920, of John Gavin Lamb (1890-1932), Wilhelmina Lamb (nee Wainwright, d.1983) and William Lamb. At age eighteen Mrs Lamb worked as a milkwoman for the Co-op and also at the Imperial Picture House. She later worked in a silk shop in Pilgrim Street, Newcastle. From 1929 to 1966 she ran the corner shop at Shipley Street in Byker, which her husband had bought in order to give her security.
