The Cathedral Church of St Mary, Newcastle. St Mary's opened as a parish church in 1844. It was designated the Cathedral Church of the diocese of Hexham (subsequently Hexham and Newcastle) in 1850. The building was designed, in the Gothic Revival style for which he is famous, by Augustus Welby Pugin (1812-1852).
