A tree planting ceremony taking place on Sunderland Road Estate in Durham City, to mark the building of new houses (18th January 1948). Dr E. G. Pace blessed the trees and offered prayers for the work of the Gardeners' Guild. Jean Dodd, aged 11 of Annand Road is shown planting a silver birch tree.
