Languages of Memory

In December 2018, Cultures of Memory hosted our first event, the 'Languages of Memory' workshop. 

The workshop focused on considering the different languages used in different forms of memory research, from cultural memory studies through to neuropscience. The workshop took contributions from:

  • Joanne Sayner - Senior Lecturer in Media, Culture, Heritage
  • Volker Straub - Harold Macmillan Professor of Medicine, Institute of Genetic Medicine 
  • Louise Mackenzie - Freelance Artist/Member of Northumrbia University research group 'Cultural Negotiation of Science'
  • Nick Riches - Senior Lecturer in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Alison Atkinson-Phillips - Oral History Research Associate 
  • Alex Easton & Tom Smulders - Learning and Memory Processes Centre (LAMP), Durham University & Newcastle University
