Broadcast Bartender - Report and Recordings

Broadcast Bartender - Why is Memory Important?

On 31st October 2019, we were delighted to host - alongside local artists Lloyd-Wilson - a day of 'Broadcast Bartender' sessions focused on the question 'Why is Memory Important?'

The recordings from this event are now available to listen to here.

We are indebted to the work of Lloyd-Wilson, with their custom built bar providing a unique and engaging space for the conversations to take place. As a research group we hoped that the sessions would create an atmosphere that stood apart from the usual seminar or panel format, and the bar definitely provided that.

This atmosphere was also made by the enthusiasm and openness that our three guest bartenders - Liz Todd, Alex Easton and Aron Mazel - brought to their unique roles.

Our three sessions, themed on Memory Work, The Art and Science of Memory, and Decolonising Memory, each sparked an engaging and unique conversations. With a full house for each session, the event proved to be a greater success than we could have hoped.
