British Council RENKEI Mobility Grant

Emma Woolgar and Yuki Kikuchi have been awarded the British Council RENKEI Mobility Grant to foster a partnership with Dr Toshimi Ogawa's group at the Smart Aging International Research Centre, Tohoku University, Japan.

This collaboration aims to develop AI-based voice technologies that assist aging populations by enhancing cognitive and memory functions through innovative auditory interventions.

In October, the team made the first visit to Japan, in advancing parallel studies involving both patient and nonhuman primate models.

The Japanese team will visit Newcastle in January through this funding to further discuss on integrating AI-driven voice stimulation, bridging the gap between human aging research and nonhuman primate studies.
