British Council Collaboration Grant

The lab received a British Council Collaboration Grant for a project titled “Emotionally Expressive AI Voices for Ageing Brains: Translational Models of Auditory Memory and Social Engagement“. Socially assistive robots have shown promise in healthcare, particularly in supporting older adults with cognitive decline. In collaboration with the Smart Ageing International Research Centre, Tohoku University in Japan, the team develops AI-generated synthetic voices for social assistive robots for dementia patients informed by a marmoset model. Building on our recent marmoset voice synthesis research (Woolgar et al., 2025; Du et al., 2025), the project will extend this work to human studies in ageing populations.
