There are many ways to get involved in COST Action IS1406:

  • As a member of one of our Working Groups

Working Groups are open to researchers, practitioners and other interested parties from any country represented by the Action's Management Committee. For more information on our Working Groups, and for details of how to get involved, please click here.

  • As a participant in one of our Training Schools

As part of our Action activities we organise regular Training Schools. These are open to our Management Committee and Working Group Members as well as researchers and practictioners based in participating countries. We particularly welcome participation from Early Career Investigator/Early Stage Researchers (those who have obtained their PhD in the last 8 years).

Many of our Training Schools are targeted at developing relevant research skills so that our Working Groups are able to achieve their scientific aims.

Please click here for details of past and forthcoming Training Schools.

If you have an idea for future training, please contact our Training Committee.

  • As a participant in an STSM (Short Term Scientific Mission)

Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM) are exchange visits aimed at supporting individual mobility, strengthening existing networks and fostering collaboration between researchers. An STSM specifically contributes to the scientific objectives of the COST Action, whilst allowing participants to learn new techniques, gain access to specific data, instruments or methods not available in their own institutions/organisations.

STSMs can last between 5 and 90 days (or longer if you are an ECI/ESR) and grants of up to €2000 are available to support STSM activity.

To find out more about STSMs, including details of current/previous exchanges and how to apply yourself, please click here.

If you are interested in hosting an STSM, or have ideas a potential exchange, please contact our STSM Coordinator.

  • As a member of our Management Committee (MC)

The Management Committee is a group of researchers nominated by the COST National Coordinators (CNC). They are in charge of the coordination, implementation and management of the Action's activities as well as supervising the appropriate allocation and use of COST funds to achieve the Action's scientific and technological objectives.

In COST Action IS1406, members of the Management Committee are also Working Group members.
