CONVEX results published

The first results from CONVEX have now been published in a paper in the Journal of Climate.  In the paper Dr Lizzie Kendon examines the climatological characteristics of heavy rainfall in a very high resolution (1.5km) model.  The paper demonstrates the improved realism of rainfall in the model which gives us confidence that it is giving a better representation of the underlying physical processes, particularly in relation to the development and persistence of convection. This gives us greater confidence in the model's ability to project future changes in precipitation extremes, and hence supports its use in climate change studies.
