Professor Hayley Fowler delivered The Joseph Lister Award Lecture 2013 at the British Science Festival, held in Newcastle this September. In her talk, titled "What is happening to our weather?" Hayley discussed what causes different types of extreme flood events and whether these are increasing based on the latest evidence. She presented latest results from climate models include those from the CONVEX project. The talk concluded by looking at how we might start to better manage and plan for these types of flood events, showcasing new ideas and modelling techniques from the Water Resources research group at Newcastle University.
