Andrew Jones & Marta Diaz-Guardamino (Southampton University): Making a Mark: imagery and process in Neolithic Britain and Ireland.

The Making a Mark project examines the decorated artefacts from Neolithic Britain and Ireland using digital recording methods in order to gain a better understanding of the process of manufacture associated with decoration. The project compares the results of this analysis with the better known passage tomb art and rock art. As a result we present a framework for understanding the different practices associated with mark making in Neolithic Britain and Ireland and establish distinctions between different aspects of Neolithic visual phenomena.
