Professor Rachel Cooper

Rachel Cooper is Professor of Translational Epidemiology at Newcastle University. For over a decade, Rachel has led a programme of research which applies a life course epidemiological approach to the study of healthy ageing, with a focus on physical capability, musculoskeletal health and multiple long-term conditions.  She has extensive experience of working with large population-based longitudinal studies including the British birth cohorts. The ultimate goals of her research are to improve people’s chances of remaining active and independent in later life and to reduce lifetime inequalities in these chances.
