ISTRC 2023 summary

Attending the International Sarcopenia Translational Research Conference was an invaluable experience that significantly advanced my knowledge of sarcopenia and the current research landscape surrounding sarcopenia and healthy ageing. There was a diverse array of keynote speakers, ECR speakers, workshops, and panel discussions, which provided me an insight into the current research in sarcopenia and ageing from lab-based studies to clinical trials. The conference gave me the platform to network and build collaborations with other early career researchers in the field, providing ideas for multidisciplinary projects. The conference also provided me with the space to engage with renowned experts and fellow researchers in research in sarcopenia and healthy ageing that otherwise I may not have connected with. Presenting my research via a poster presentation provided me with the opportunity to get feedback on my work and potential future directions and considerations. The wealth of knowledge gained from the conference has undoubtedly catalysed progress in my work and allowed me to better inform my PhD students of the latest position statements, research, and developments in sarcopenia.
