ISTRC 2023 summary
On my first visit to Newcastle, I got to experience the sights and life of the city and modern location for the conference. It was a prime site for learning about current research happening within the translational sarcopenia field and promising findings of great clinical benefit. It was also a great opportunity to present my work in person and discuss it with senior academics. I was pleasantly surprised to also win best oral communication prize as a bonus! The conference dinner was in an amazing location and provided a great chance to meet new people, network and socialise with both early career researchers and well-established scientists and clinicians - plus delicious food! It has allowed me to form new connections, gain career tips and exchange ideas with people in the field to improve my work. On the second day I really enjoyed attending the workshop on new ways to study skeletal muscle to learn about new techniques being developed which may be useful additions in my own future research to compliment and further those I currently use.
