A Wild Curriculum: Interdisciplinary Teaching in and for the Anthropocene

  • Venue: Newcastle University, Henry Daysh Building 9.02, The Agora
  • Start: Thu, 22 Jan 2026 12:30:00 GMT
  • End: Thu, 22 Jan 2026 16:00:00 GMT

We invite academic colleagues and students to join us for a workshop examining how the Anthropocene/s can inspire Newcastle University’s ‘Leading Edge Curriculum’ and ‘Fit for the Future’ work, as parts of the Education for Life 2030+ initiative. Through practical examples of current teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels we will explore the potential of the Anthropocene/s as a form of interdisciplinary thinking and teaching from which both staff and students can benefit, as well as analysing the current institutional, cultural, and personal blockages that inhibit interdisciplinarity across the wider university, and how to address them. We will collaborate with a Live Scribe on the day to document the event and the ideas that emerge.
