Dr Jonas Johansson

I am an Exercise Physiologist from Sweden with a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine and a Ph.D in public health, with a specific focus on healthy ageing. My research experience encompasses epidemiological studies on physical activity, muscle strength, physical function, body composition, fall risk assessment and ageing. I have also planned and executed exercise intervention studies focusing on resistance and balance exercise in older adults. I currently work as a postdoc at the University in Tromsø, Norway, where I use the Tromsø Study cohort to study the muscle strength measures of the updated European sarcopenia guidelines and investigate their association with physical activity and clinical endpoints.  I will be visiting the AGE Research Group for four months where I aim to gain relevant insight into both the epidemiological and clinical research areas of ageing, muscle strength and sarcopenia.
