I am interested in autism spectrum conditions in adults and children with a special interest in social communication difficulties and mental health. My first degree was in Psychology from the University of Birmingham in 2008 followed by a Masters in Reading, Language and Cognition at the University of York in 2009. It was here that I developed my interest in autism spectrum conditions that led me to undertake my PhD at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh from 2010 to 2015. This looked at auditory perceptual abilities in adults across the autism spectrum and their relation to cognitive and language ability. Whilst I was completing my PhD, I also worked as a Research Assistant on the Computer-based Learning in Children: The Edinburgh Autism Social-attention Trial and volunteered for a local drop-in centre for adults on the autism spectrum. I currently care for a young lady with multiple complex needs.
