Director of Information Systems and Services
Newcastle University

As Director of Information Systems and Services for Newcastle University, I run all central University computing. ISS supports and enables research, teaching and learning and the business of the University.

I've worked in Germany, the USA and Asia, for Mercedes-Benz, Allgeier Computer, ICI, Viasystems and The Health Clinic PLC. For five years before joining the University in June 2008, I was Head of ICT for Sunderland City Council.

My particular work interests are in transforming organisations with IT, developing people, creativity, risk and customer service.

I'm married to Sue and the father of James. I live in Washington. I enjoy triathlons, working as roadie (and occasional drummer!) in my son's metal band and attempting to keep my German fluent.
