Peter M. Budd, FRSC is a Chartered Chemist and is Professor of Polymer Chemistry at the University of Manchester. He spent 8 years as a research chemist with BP before taking up an academic position at Manchester in 1989. He is co-inventor (with McKeown) of “Polymers of Intrinsic Microporosity” (PIMs), which are currently being commercialized. He has published over 80 refereed papers and has an h-index of 33. PB's relevant expertise is in membrane materials for gas and liquid separations. Currently, he is PI for the £2.8M EPSRC Graphene Engineering project, “Graphene-based membranes” and is Co-I on a £830k joint project between Manchester and Liverpool on “Organic Mixed Matrix Membrane Technologies for Post-Combustion CO2 Capture” for which EPSRC funding has just been announced. His group is also developing polymers for tissue engineering through a BBSRC-funded project. He has received support from a number of companies and organisations, including BP, Victrex, Xennia and DSTL. He currently supervises 7 PhD students and has graduated 28.
